Crystal Rogers Found Dead
The disappearance of Crystal Rogers on July 3, 2015, continues to baffle investigators and haunt her family. The 35-year-old mother of five was last seen at her home, leaving behind her keys, cell phone, and purse. Her car was later discovered with a flat tire along the Bluegrass Parkway, igniting a series of events that have remained unsolved for nearly eight years.
Disappearance Crystal Rogers
“At the time of her disappearance, the 35-year-old mother of five was living with her boyfriend, Brooks Houck, their two-year-old son, and her other children. Houck is the last person known to have seen her,” reveals a source. He claimed she was on her phone playing games when he went to bed, but the next morning, she was gone, and her car was absent from the driveway.
Her family’s worry escalated after failed attempts to contact her. Two days later, Crystal’s 2007 Chevrolet Impala was found parked with a flat tire by mile marker 14 of the Bluegrass Parkway, with her keys, purse, and cellphone inside. The case took a darker turn when, in October 2015, Crystal Rogers was presumed dead, leaving her family in anguish and seeking justice.
Crystal Rogers Update
Now, after eight long years, there’s a glimmer of hope for answers. Recent developments suggest a potential breakthrough in the case, linking Brooks Houck to the murder of Crystal’s father, Tommy Ballard. Tommy was shot and killed in 2016, a crime that remains unsolved to this day.
“At Houck’s arraignment last week, Hardin County Prosecutor Shane Young said his team recovered a gun reportedly sold by Houck’s brother, Nick, that may have been the same weapon used to kill Ballard,” states a source. The test results are pending, and a motion to reduce Houck’s bond was denied, adding a layer of suspense to the unfolding drama.
A Complex Web of Suspicion
Nick Houck, Brooks’ brother and a former Bardstown Police officer, was fired from the local police department for allegedly interfering with the investigation. The Ballard family had long voiced their suspicions about Brooks Houck’s involvement in Crystal’s disappearance.
“In an interview, Crystal’s sister said, ‘[Brooks] has not offered once to search, or help, or do anything for the family,'” cites a source. The Houck brothers faced questioning, with Nick advising Brooks not to cooperate with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office. As suspicions grew, Nick’s refusal to cooperate led to a polygraph test, which raised concerns among investigators.
“On October 16, 2015, Nick was fired from the Bardstown Police Department, and Brooks was officially named a suspect in the case,” recounts the tumultuous events following Crystal’s disappearance.
Unanswered Questions and Ongoing Investigations
The case remains a haunting mystery, with no arrests made in connection with Tommy Ballard’s death. Crystal’s family, particularly her late father, had relentlessly searched for her, amplifying their anguish over the years.
“Ballard had never stopped looking for his daughter,” shared Sherry Ballard, Crystal’s mother. The lack of closure adds an emotional weight to the family’s quest for justice.
